Initially desiring to practice health law, Tracy applied to law school where she developed varied legal experience through diverse internships with Johns Hopkins Hospital Legal Department, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the Attorney General's Office and the Public Defender's Office. Tracy developed a strong passion for family law while serving on the Family Law Moot Court team, and for family law clients while serving as a student attorney for the University's Family Law Clinic. As a student attorney, Tracy provided pro bono representation for victims of domestic violence and persons of limited economic means.
Upon graduation, Tracy continued her legal development by working at private family law practice in Anne Arundel County. While at the firm, Tracy was able to deepen her knowledge and experience in the vast family law arena and was promoted to an Associate Attorney and given the opportunity to litigate varied family law cases.
With the knowledge and experience gained from her family law opportunities, Tracy opened her own family law office. Her office is located in Columbia, Maryland near The Mall in Town Center. Tracy provides representation for divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, protective orders and many other areas of family law. She also provides assistance with estate planning which includes wills and powers of attorney, recognizing that when parties divorce, one's estate plan typically changes.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
