Hired Law firm 2025-2026Downs, Beste & Blackson, LLC Law Firm demonstrated a complete disregard for a child’s best interest / safety. In my experience, their actions appeared focused solely on protecting their client at any cost—even when that meant defending against Child Protective Servies (CPS) findings which revealed substantial physical harm to a very young child (2 yr old). Rather than acting responsible, it felt like this firm enabled and reinforced false narratives, supported misleading claims, and amplified accusations that were not grounded in truth. Watching attorneys back a client who, in my opinion, was lying and making fabricated accusations only made an already volatile custody situation significantly worse. Nothing about this experience suggested concern for the emotional or physical safety of the children involved. Instead, their approach seemed to escalate conflict, prolong trauma, and deepen damage for everyone, especially the children. Based on my experience, this firm prioritizes aggressive litigation over accountability and child welfare. Any Parents who genuinely care about their children’s best interests and protection should proceed with extreme caution.

Hired Law firm 2023I am deeply disappointed with the services provided by attorney Lisa Blackson during my divorce mediation. I trusted her to mediate a fair agreement, but instead, I was misguided into signing a quit claim deed, effectively giving up my rights to the house and any equity it held. Additionally, my child support was inexplicably reduced by half. I feel betrayed by her actions, which seemed to favor my ex-husband rather than advocating for my best interests. I strongly advise against her services if you seek an attorney who will represent and protect your rights as a woman. When I returned to her office to ask her why she thought it was in my best interest to sign a quit claim deed or reduce his child support, she had no answers and asked me to leave.

Hired Law firm 2022-2023Ok they took on a mental charge of driving on suspended times 2 and several other tickets. Both cases were of 2 different agencies and from 2 different years. I had an active warrant on both fta and plus I jumped bail on the latest. They went straight to work on these offenses . Got the warrant squashed and a court date set without me ever having to cross back into the state. I never even had to face the judge on jumping bail and they managed to get both cases set for the same date . That alone saved me thousands of loss time from work and travel expenses. I would recommend them for anything and especially for handling what we would deem difficult outstanding cases. Their office manager Jill Cottrell went above and beyond to help me secure the reinstatement of my license. Something I haven't had since around 2013. Amazing results considering I was a habitual offender for these offenses. And when I say habitual. We are talking 7 times. And I walked with a pbj and a speeding ticket out of 6 offenses. No jail time and about 250 out of pocket plus of course my lawyers fees. Great results aren't free you know. They do it right. They talk with you and they do face to face when negotiating. Anyone with an ounce of common sense need to be calling this firm . If it's results that you need they will fit I guarantee

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
