Attorney Information
Overview
After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981, Wayne Wiseman maintained a successful and active practice handling a cross section of civil litigation, commercial and transactional matters, regulatory matters, and criminal defense trials and appeals. He was both the founding and managing partner of a highly successful Park Avenue law firm for twenty-two years, from 1987 until 2009. Wayne served as a faculty member of the National Institute of Trial Attorneys Trial Advocacy Skills Program at Georgetown University Law Center.
Wayne’s legal career began with employment as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, where he tried over 30 jury trials to verdict, with a 97% conviction rate. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, he built upon this trial experience by trying in excess of 100 cases to verdict in both the Federal and State court systems, covering a diverse range of subjects that included employment matters on behalf of both employers and employees, prosecuted and defended personal injury and medical malpractice cases, defended workers’ compensation cases, and defended clients against prosecution at the Federal and State levels. Wayne drew on his B.B.A. in accounting, economics and finance, along with his experience as a public accountant with a former “Big Eight” certified public accounting firm to advise clients on sensitive and complex financial matters, involving everything from corporate matters and structuring transactions to complex multi-million dollar forfeiture proceedings.
Of Wayne Wiseman, one grateful client said he is: “amazing, talented, and truly cares,” while another described him as “professional and informative with a refreshing approach.” After a lengthy trial, a business owner client said: “Wayne is a masterful trial attorney. The judge hung on his every word. I felt privileged to be represented by Wayne and the whole team.”
Wayne is an avid golfer and investor who enjoys spending time with his beloved wife, their dog, Max, friends and family.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
