Attorney Information

Overview

Jane Santoni has been trying personal injury cases since 1988 and consumer protection cases since 2002. She is barred in all Maryland Courts, the Federal District Court of Maryland, and the United States Supreme Court.

She fights passionately for people injured by landlord/tenant violations, debt collection abuses, and credit reporting errors, as well as those subjected to sewage infiltration, injured in car accidents, by dog bites, nursing home negligence and in slips and falls.

Jane's work has resulted in victories large and small, and include everything from getting a tenant compensation for sub-human treatment to getting millions of dollars of debt forgiven by a debt collector.

Jane proudly serves on the board of directors and past president of Civil Justice, Inc., and is a member and the past Maryland state chair of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and on its Board of Directors. She is on the Board of Governors at the Maryland Association of Justice. She is a member of the Baltimore City and County Bar Associations. In 2013, she was named as one of the Daily Record’s “Leaders in the Law” and 2015 she was named “Consumer Advocate of the Year” by the National Association of Consumer Advocates. In 2022 she won the "Woman's Caucus Award" from the Maryland Association for Justice for her mentorship of other woman attorneys.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
