Overview
Roy I. Niedermayer is a member of the firm's Litigation and Appellate Practice groups. He is primarily engaged in business counseling and risk management, complex commercial litigation involving commercial transactions, business torts, insurance coverage, defense, and indemnity claims, commercial/trade secrets and employment matters including restrictive covenants, real estate development and construction, corporate matters and estate and probate litigation.
A member of the American Bar Association and Section of Litigation of Business Torts-Federal Practice Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association, Mr. Niedermayer has lectured on topics related to law and real estate development at the Catholic University of America. Early in his legal career, he was nominated for the American College of Trial Lawyers' "Courageous Advocacy" Award and his published works include "Demonstrative Evidence: Worth A Thousand Words," which ran in the Special Litigation Report of Legal Times in November 1994. The next year, he received the "Legal Advocacy Award for Civil Rights" from the Anti-Defamation League in recognition of his pro bono work, which has continued to be something Mr. Niedermayer has pursued in more recent years. His peers selected him as a Super Lawyer of Maryland in his practice areas from 2007-2008 and 2010-2013.
Mr. Niedermayer received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School after graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and with Honors with the Highest Distinction in History studies. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Fourth Circuit, Federal Circuit, Federal Claims Court and the United States Tax Court.
