Overview
Andrew MacDonald practices as a criminal defense attorney on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Mr. MacDonald opened his solo law practice focusing on criminal defense in February 2007. His wife, Cynthia MacDonald joined his practice as a law partner in March 2009 forming the MacDonald Law Office, LLC. Prior to opening his private practice, Mr. MacDonald was employed as an Assistant State's Attorney for Wicomico County from 1996 to February 2007. During his employment as a criminal prosecutor, Mr. MacDonald worked his way up from handling misdemeanor and traffic cases in the district court to prosecuting major felonies in the Circuit Court. Mr. MacDonald appeared in court on a daily basis litigating hundreds of jury trials, court trials and hearings. Cases assigned to Mr. MacDonald in the Circuit Court included homicide, rape, crimes of violence, felony drug cases, firearm crimes, and burglary. Mr. MacDonald was the founder and administrator of Wicomico Exile: Hard Time for Gun Crime. Mr. MacDonald secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant money for Wicomico County law enforcement and received several awards for his commitment to this program. Prior to joining the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office, Mr. MacDonald was a law clerk for the three judges in the Wicomico County Circuit Court. Mr. MacDonald graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law with a J.D., Cum Laude, in June 1995. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December 1995 and the federal bar, District of Maryland, in 2007. Mr. MacDonald graduated from Syracuse University with a B.A. in 1992. In college he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. MacDonald was raised in Charlotte, N.C. and graduated from The Charlotte Country Day Schools in 1988. His parents still reside in Charlotte. Mr. MacDonald is an Eagle Scout. Mr. MacDonald currently lives with his wife, Cynthia, and his two young children in Salisbury, Maryland. Mr. MacDonald has lived in Salisbury since 1995. Mr. MacDonald enjoys surfing in Ocean City and Assateague and he is a triathlon competitor.
