Attorney Information
Overview
I've been working with families ever since I started practicing law in January of 2006. My first job as an attorney was as a Family Advocate Attorney for five years at an agency called East Baltimore Development, Inc. When I formed the Stewart Law Office in 2011, I soon became attracted to assisting clients in their divorces. I then made it the primary focus of the firm.
I feel honored to have the privilege of being a divorce attorney because of my own personal experiences. I know from my own life, I've been able to go through some difficult challenges, but I've been able to realize that inside of those, they were great opportunities that have been adapted into my practice. My faith has grown deeply regarding these challenging experiences and has refined my life in many ways.
While being a 5th year Sophomore in College on academic probation and being involved in a serious car accident, great appreciation during these challenges was obtained.
I have realized in my own life, when I became brave enough to walk through these struggles, I was then able to find the blessings inside of my own challenges.
Blessings and accomplishments to date: I have been married to my wife for almost 20 years. I have published my book in reference to my struggles and the blessings along the way. I was able to go back to school, graduate and then attend law school. I have a successful law practice and am now also attending Harvard University Extension School which has been a dream of mine. I am currently on my 6th class with a standing 3.6 grade point average. Through my challenges in life, these wonderful experiences took place.
I know how difficult it can be to even begin to lean into the fear of these problems that are right in front of us. It can take so much courage and faith just to decide to move forward, to even take that first step; especially for the client who has been paralyzed by the dilemma of their marriage and custody problems but knows with all their being that they somehow need to move forward.
Here at the Stewart Law Office, we provide empathy, hope, strength and legal counsel to our clients in assisting them in walking through one of the most difficult challenges in their lives while supporting them to look for the blessings inside of their difficulties.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
