Attorney Paul J. Klehm is a seasoned attorney with over thirty years of experience helping small businesses and people with their litigation issues in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts.
Small businesses: Paul advises and represents small businesses on various legal disputes, including, without limitation, contract matters, fraud matters, and employee theft matters. With the help of the entire law firm, Paul won a $5.25 million dollar jury verdict in a federal civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act trial on behalf of a business client.
People: Paul represents people who have been seriously injured in a variety of incidents – from automobile collisions to trips and falls. He represents people who have faced discrimination at work, or who are dealing with issues arising out of non-competition agreements. Paul also serves as counsel to individuals who have been the victims of police misconduct, whether by means of excessive force, beating or an arrest without probable cause. He represents people who are involved in disputes arising out of breach of a contract, fraud or unfair and deceptive business practices.
Paul has argued appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
From 2023 to 2025, Paul served on the Executive Management Board of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA). Since 2019, he has served as a member of the MBA’s House of Delegates, another governing body of the MBA. Paul is a past Chair of the Civil Litigation Section Council of the MBA, and he has served on that council from 2014-2021, and 2023 to present. He has also served on the Access to Justice and Real Estate Law Section Councils of the MBA. He is a member of the Lawyer Referral Service Committee of the MBA. Paul judges rounds of the MBA Mock Trial Competition, and he volunteers regularly for its Dial-A-Lawyer program, where individuals call in with legal questions. In 2023, Paul won the MBA’s Volunteer Recognition Award.
Paul is the current Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation (MBF) and he has served as a Trustee of the MBF since 2022. He is an Oliver Wendell Holmes Life Fellow at the MBF. Since 2025 he has served on the MBF Finance Committee. He has served on grant application review committees for the MBF for many years, and since 2022, he has chaired the Northeast Regional Committee. Since 2023, he has served on the MBF’s Legal Intern Fellowship Program subcommittee of the Board of Trustees, helping to select summer Legal Intern Fellows, and he has chaired that committee since 2025. He served on the MBF’s Innovation Grant Committee which provided grants to organizations seeking to try out innovative ideas, from 2023 to 2025. In 2020, Paul was awarded the MBF’s President’s Award, which honors commitment to the work of the MBF.
Paul is a Past President of the Lawrence Bar Association (LBA) and, from 2006 to 2017, he served on the Executive Committee of the LBA.
