Testimonials

“I had a terrific experience with Carlos. Throughout what could have been a trying ordeal, he maintained a level of calm, thoughtfulness and professionalism that enabled all parties to make real progress. He is extremely responsive, and as a lawyer myself, I really appreciated his ability to clearly and concisely explain legal concepts in an area with which I was unfamiliar. Carlos’s friendly demeanor also made it very easy to work with him — I’ve seen my share of attorneys who are difficult and unlikable, and knowing that our interactions would be painless always kept me relieved. Above all, Carlos provided sound advice and solid work product in a timely, efficient manner.”

“I had never needed a lawyer before and was new to the whole legal experience. We were interviewing many lawyers and decided to go with Carlos at our first consultation. It was an emotional time, Carlos listened and was professional through the entire process. Carlos understood the complexity of the situation and helped me to see things more simply. I felt supported through the entire process, he explained things in a way that helped to make sense of all legal jargon. I would recommend Carlos to anyone who is going through a divorce or custody battle. The whole team at Sally and Fitch was amazing!”

“I was very pleased to have Carlos Maycotte on my team. I found him to be very conscientious and caring. He was very thoughtful in terms of keeping me informed every step of the way with phone calls and timely emails. I most appreciated his relaxed and calming manner. At times when I found myself totally frustrated with the plaintiff’s pitbull (attorney), Carlos was there to help me navigate the litigation process with genuine care. Furthermore, Carlos has continued to contact me to check on me and to make sure all the appropriate steps are being completed. Carlos has my highest recommendation. You will be happy to have Carlos by your side.”

“I was represented in my divorce case against my ex-husband by two Fitch attorneys, Carlos Maycotte and another, more senior attorney. This review is for Carlos, with whom I had more frequent and extensive interactions. Interacting with Carlos, I felt that he must have been at the top of his class in law school, because he clearly knew what he was doing, and is a rising star. He remained completely on top of all the details of my case, answered questions immediately and professionally, and for more complex technical questions, researched them and returned with thoughtful and scholarly answers backed by literature and case histories. His insights directly resulted in considerable financial gains in my divorce case. When it came time to draft our separation contract, Carlos dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s. No stone was left unturned. I would recommend him highly to all friends and colleagues, as someone who will work tirelessly to support and advocate for you, and who backs that zeal with rigor and scholarship.”

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
