Emily E. Nicholson is a partner at Warner, Federico & Ryan, LLP and has concentrated her practice exclusively in domestic relations since 2012. Her practice focuses on work in high net worth divorce matters, complex financial disputes, paternity actions, alternative dispute resolution/mediation, modifications, contempts, child custody disputes, premarital agreements, and trials. She is also a Category F Guardian ad Litem.

Prior to her work in private practice, Emily mediated divorce cases and child custody disputes for the State of Connecticut, and represented child victims of domestic violence, abuse, and neglect with the Center for Children’s Advocacy in Connecticut. Her background also includes work in the criminal sector for a prominent criminal defense firm, clerking for the Honorable Marianne B. Bowler in the US District Court, and working as a victim/witness advocate for the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Emily is a Founding Member of the Greater Boston Family Law American Inn of Court, which promotes the highest caliber of professionalism, mentoring, and civility among family law practitioners, and she is a member of the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Boston Associates Networking Group. She is a Certified Financial Litigator with an understanding and proficiency in tax return analysis, financial statement analysis, investments, valuation theory and financial issues specific to family law.

Since 2016, Emily has received repeated recognition as a Massachusetts Rising Star in Boston Magazine’s Massachusetts Super Lawyers, and New England’s Super Lawyers; an honor awarded to only 2.5% of lawyers in Massachusetts. She has also been recognized by Boston Magazine as a top female attorney in Massachusetts, and recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for her work in family law each year since the inception of the award.

Emily graduated from Northeastern University, magna cum laude, in 2009, and from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2012, where she was awarded the prestigious CALI award for her work representing underprivileged children at the Center for Children’s Advocacy.
