Attorney Information

Overview

Bob has been practicing law for 36 years and is licensed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Bob graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Business Administration, with minors in Economics and Philosophy. He subsequently completed his legal training at the University of Maine School of Law, graduating with his law degree in May of 1988. He is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and the U.S. Court of Appeals 1st Circuit.

During Bob's first decade as a lawyer, he primarily litigated commercial, business, personal injury and family law disputes. The financial and emotional cost of the traditional litigation model to Bob's clients has caused him to redirect his professional energy. Although Bob frequently litigates appropriate cases, he now guides clients toward a collaborative and peaceful solution to their legal problems. In the collaborative method, clients maintain control, reduce legal fees and the emotional turmoil associated with litigation, all while maintaining privacy which does not exist in the litigation model.

Bob is one of Massachusetts' "Super Lawyers". Only 5% of Massachusetts lawyers have achieved this designation. He has also been voted one of the Ten Best Elder Law Attorneys from 2018 to 2024. Bob is a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Bar Associations, Essex County Bar Association, Middlesex County Bar Association, Haverhill Bar Association, and Salem New Hampshire Bar Association. Bob's professional associations include The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), MA and New Hampshire NAELA Chapters, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council (MCLC), and the New Hampshire Collaborative Law Alliance (NHCLA). Bob is also a Certified Financial Litigator.

Bob's practice areas include Divorce and Family Law, Estate and Trust Planning, Elder Law and Medicaid Planning, Probate Administration, Business and Corporate Law, Litigation and Business General Counsel.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
