Overview
Colleen E. Bigelow is an experienced family law attorney and the principal owner of Commonwealth Legal Group, LLC. She focuses her practice on divorce and domestic relations matters, including complex divorce litigation, child support, interstate support cases, paternity actions, modifications, and contempt proceedings. She also serves as a Guardian ad Litem and is a trained divorce mediator.
Colleen began her legal career at Metrowest Legal Services in the Family Law Unit, where she represented survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in divorce and family law matters. She later transitioned to private practice, continuing to advocate for clients throughout Norfolk, Middlesex, and surrounding counties.
She also worked for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement Division. During her tenure with DOR, she was selected to serve as a Special Assistant District Attorney with the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting criminal non-support cases in the District Court.
Colleen transitioned to private practice in 2011, joining the firm, and became its principal owner in 2013.
She is actively involved in the legal community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Metrowest Legal Services. Colleen regularly volunteers as a Lawyer for the Day in the Norfolk Probate and Family Courts and provides training to fellow attorneys. She also serves on the pro bono panel for Metrowest Legal Services.
From 2012 to 2014, Colleen was honored to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission, appointed by Governor Deval Patrick. The Commission is a nonpartisan body responsible for evaluating and recommending judicial candidates across the Commonwealth.
Outside of her practice, Colleen enjoys history and spending time with her family and pets.
