Attorney Information

Overview

Tyler Sheets joined Finneran & Nicholson, P.C. as an Associate in 2021 and now serves the firm as the Managing Director of the Litigation Department.

Tyler Sheets tries cases. His presence in the courtroom has won over judges and juries across a broad array of business disputes. Where litigation can be avoided, Tyler has proven himself a shrewd negotiator with a nose for opportunities to resolve disputes that would have cost his clients money. By guarding his clients interests without apology or half measures, Tyler has earned the trust of Newburyport's business community, and they showed their gratitude by voting Tyler Newburyport's "Best Lawyer" in 2026.

Tyler's practice areas include shareholder disputes, business breakups, landlord-tenant disputes, employment defense, fiduciary litigaiton, land-use disputes, administrative agency litigation, and a host of other commercial or business disputes. His clients have included international, publicly-traded corporations to sole proprietors, in a variety of industries and professions.

Tyler earned a spot on the Southern California Law Review at USC Gould School of Law, rowed crew as an undergraduate at the University of Calif., San Diego, and grew up, even further West, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Today, when the courtroom closes, you can try to find Tyler somewhere in the woods on an adventure with his beautiful wife, Taylor, their son, Jack, and dogs (Kona and Poppy).

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
