Overview
My practice focuses on helping people and their families in the aftermath of devastating injuries and wrongful death, including cases involving medical malpractice, motor vehicle collisions, industrial accidents, dog bites, slip and falls, and others. I understand that often you are coming to our office during one of the most difficult periods of your life and need guidance and advice on what do to next. I take our responsibility seriously to fight for the resources necessary to help those individuals and their families recover and heal from their experiences. Regardless of the circumstances that brought you to our office, we are here to help, using cutting edge technology to assist in making the strongest case possible to argue for the maximum damages allowed by law. In addition to my personal injury practice, I also have experience in general civil litigation, business litigation, and criminal defense. I am admitted in both Massachusetts and Vermont, and practice in both the federal and state courts.

Attorney Howard joined Donovan O’Connor & Dodig, LLP in September 2011 and have been since January 1, 2019, serving as the firm’s managing partner and on its executive committee multiple times. Attorney Howard is a leader in the firm's personal injury and civil litigation practice and has assisted in a wide variety of other matters. He has presented on the topic of E-Discovery by the National Institute of Business and has been a member of the Berkshire Bar Association Executive Committee since 2019.
Attorney Howard's has assisted in securing significant settlements and judgments for a number of clients. In 2024, he completed a $500,000 settlement for a motorcyclist injured in an accident. In 2023, he helped secure a $3 million settlement in a medical malpractice case involving a failed back surgery. In 2023, he and Atty. Lord secured the maximum available $400,000 in insurance coverage for two women struck by a car while walking on a dirt road. In 2020, he and Atty. Dodig secured a $750,000 settlement in a medical malpractice case in which a surgery was not performed correctly. In 2019, he reached a $500,000 settlement in a wrongful death medical malpractice case. In 2018, Attorney Howard was part of a team that recovered more than $7 million for an individual injured in an industrial explosion.
Attorneys Dodig and Howard served as local Massachusetts counsel in a medical malpractice case that settled for $16.05 million. In that case, a baby suffered severe brain damage at birth following a placental abruption. The settlement was one of the largest pre-trial recoveries in a medical malpractice case in Massachusetts. The primary allegations in the case were that there was a delay in triaging the mother and in beginning electronic fetal monitoring. Once electronic fetal monitoring was started, it was clear that the baby was suffering bradycardia. Other allegations included that the baby was not delivered quickly enough once it was clear it was in distress and, further, that resuscitation was not performed properly. The case was complicated and involved 12 medical experts witnesses in numerous fields were retained on behalf of the injured child and family, including: nephrology, neonatology, obstetrics/gynecology, physiatry, hematology, neuroradiology, nursing, vocational rehabilitation, and economics. This recovery will ensure the child receives appropriate medical care and supports throughout its life.
In addition to practicing law, Attorney Howard is active throughout the Berkshire County community. He lives in Williamstown, MA with his wife and two young children. He is a member of both the Berkshire Bar Association and the Bennington Bar Association. He has served as a member of the Human Rights Committee at Berkshire Family and Individual Resources (BFAIR) since 2012. Attorney Howard has also volunteered his time to both the North Adams District Court and the Bennington Superior Court Criminal Division as conflict counsel and with the Berkshire Immigrant Center in a clinic to assist individuals prepare legal documents to ensure for the care of their children.
