His father was a doctor who worked with Albert Sabin to help develop the polio vaccine. In his first electrocution case more than 30 years ago, Estate of Caroline Marie Bell v. Detroit Edison Company, Jeffrey represented the family of a 5-year-old girl who died after touching a downed power line hidden under leaves after a storm in rural Michigan.
The multi-million dollar verdict he won in that case led to a public safety campaign. A famous NBA player appeared in ads warning children to “Look up for power lines!”
