Attorney Information
Overview
Scott has extensive litigation, trial, and appellate experience representing businesses and individuals in state and federal courts throughout Michigan, Florida, and in other federal districts. He is proud to protect the interests of decedents, trustees, and beneficiaries in will and trust litigation. While Scott specializes in complex civil and probate litigation, he proactively advises brokers, salespersons, and all varieties of real estate businesses how to protect their interests and avoid litigation. Whether working in the courtroom or the boardroom, for every client, Scott's goal is the same: to provide insightful legal services that protect individuals and add value to businesses.
Scott is licensed and practices business, real estate, and trust litigation in the states of Michigan and Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
Prior to practicing law, Scott was a professional jazz guitarist, bandleader, and composer. Though his career has changed, Scott still utilizes the same skills that made him a successful jazz musician: creative thinking, responsiveness, dedicated listening, and the desire to continually implement, adopt and adapt to new ideas.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys CrossFit, running, and spending time with his family. He loves watching his son play hockey and his daughter dance.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
