Hired Attorney 1992-1994The negative review on this website is from Tom Nelson of Oakland County. I am attorney Faraone. never met Mr. Nelson. I had no attorney-client relationship with him. I had one 10-minute phone conversation with him in which he tried to coerce me into representing his friend for free, i.e., represent him for free or he will go to war damaging my reputation. He did the same thing on the Martin-Hubbell site and they removed it. In short, he writes that I an a "bad attorney" and attempted to trash me on-line, but he was willing to allow me to represent his friend as long as I didn't charge. Some would call that attempted extortion.

Consulted Attorney 1990-2000Michael and Bonnie spoke to me like they were God and I was lucky to be talking with them. They said they didn't need the case and we needed them more. When we told them we needed to check with a lawyer friend if they knew them, they got very defensive and strange. I had to press Bonnie for the worst case scenario cost which she was very reluctant reveal. They also said they didn't go for a lot of phone calls. Wow! They wanted our $10,000 in a hurry. Do not use these people.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
