Attorney Information

Overview

Cassandra Ely joined LeVander, Gillen & Miller, P.A. in 2023 as a paralegal, specializing in estate planning, trust administration, and probate administration. Her dedication and expertise led to her promotion to an associate attorney in 2025, shortly after earning her Juris Doctor and becoming a member of the Minnesota Bar.

Prior to attending law school and becoming a lawyer, Cass was a paralegal for several years in the areas of compliance, regulatory governance, and employment law. It was her growing desire to help clients through difficult situations that prompted her to pursue her law degree. In 2025, she graduated from the Blended Program through Mitchell Hamline School of Law while working full-time and raising a family. One of her proudest achievements was being selected as an Associate on the 50th edition of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review and making the Dean’s List.

With a strong background in legal support and a passion for estate planning, Cass is committed to providing clients attentive and thorough legal guidance with compassion. She leverages her extensive experience in litigation, compliance, and estate matters to help clients navigate complex legal processes with confidence.

Outside of the office, Cass can be found knitting while listening to a good audiobook or playing games with her husband and son at a local coffeeshop. Favorites include Cribbage, Battleship, and Fluxx. She and her family are also avid Lego collectors.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
