Since graduating from law school, Lucas J.M. Dawson has been engaged in private practice. She was employed by two law firms before she joined Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Groshek Law PA in 2016, where she concentrates on criminal defense, family law, juvenile law, civil litigation, and administrative law for clients in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Ms. Dawson is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association. Ms. Dawson is affiliated with the Children's Law Center of Minnesota, which provides protection to legal orphans and foster children, and Central Minnesota Legal Services, which provides free legal services to qualifying individuals. She also works with Volunteer Lawyers Network, Ltd., which helps to protect and enforce the rights of low-income Minnesotans.
While attending law school, Ms. Dawson clerked for the Chicago County Attorney's Office as well as for the Office of the Hennepin County Attorney, where she prosecuted juvenile delinquency and child protection cases in her capacity as a certified student attorney. She also served as a clerk for an area law firm, working exclusively on family law cases.
In 2006, Ms. Dawson earned a degree in international relations from St. Catherine University. She worked as a legal assistant for four years before enrolling at what was then known as William Mitchell College of Law and being awarded her Juris Doctor in 2011.
