Attorney Information
Overview
Roy A. Sjoberg opened the doors of Sjoberg Legal Services, Ltd. on October 15, 1982. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a health and life insurance agent, and it was in doing this that he learned the great value of persistence and perseverance. Bolstered by these qualities, he worked earnestly to build his law firm. Over time, he built a team of exceptional staff and fellow attorneys. Today, Sjoberg & Tebelius, P.A. is a thriving practice, respected by both clients and the community.
Roy is very proud of the vast experience represented among the attorneys of Sjoberg & Tebelius, P.A.. His particular area of expertise is estate and business planning. He believes this is a very personal field, and as such works to create a close relationship with each of his clients. He is humbled each time a prospective client places their trust in him, permitting him to develop a deep understanding of their values and aspirations.
Recognized by his peers for his exceptional interpersonal skills, Roy has a unique ability to address complicated issues with practical, yet sophisticated, planning solutions. His clients often come to him with blended family circumstances and are unable to work through an estate planning solution on their own. His approach permits clients to talk openly about their thoughts, concerns, and fears without causing emotional crises in their relationships.
For his clients who are business owners and seeking his guidance for the successful continuation of their businesses, he develops customized solutions to pave the way for a smooth transition into their company's future.
Outside of work, Roy is most passionate about making a difference in social and civic concerns, particularly when he observes those in power and influence taking advantage of those who are under-represented. For example, as an elected public official for St. Croix County, he aims to keep groundwater safe for small farm residents against the abuses of absentee-owner mega-farms.
Rotary International introduced Roy to the community leaders of Hudson, Wisconsin, his home for the last 25 years. Through the organization, he has led mission trips to Nicaragua, hosted foreign exchange students, served as Club President 2001-02, and served as District Governor 2008-09.
Roy and his wife enjoy traveling together, and spend much of their summers camping and biking. Roy has a background in music education, and in addition to singing in choirs, he enjoys attending concerts, particularly the Minnesota Opera. He also spends his time writing, reading, and playing cribbage with his wife.
In looking forward in his life and career, Roy knows one thing is certain: "I will never give up my positive attitude that I can and I must do my best to make a difference in the world. That passion is at the very core of my beliefs."

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.
How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
