Overview
ALPHONSO MICHAEL (MIKE) ESPY is the 25th Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture having served in the Administration of President Bill Clinton. He has also served as a Member of the United States House of Representatives from the State of Mississippi, having the distinction of being the first African-American elected to that body from the State of Mississippi since the Reconstruction-era. Mr. Espy has also served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Mississippi, and as a former Assistant Secretary of State.
Currently, Mike Espy works as an attorney shareholder in Morgan & Morgan PA, serves as principal of Mike Espy PLLC, and AE Agritrade, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in governmental relations, rural development, food and nutrition, and international agricultural development issues. He has served as principal advisor to foreign governments and has lectured widely on topics of agricultural development, finance, and multilateral food aid. His law practice concentrates on general plaintiff’s law, mass tort, bond and governmental finance, and international relations.
