Overview
Erik A. Bergmanis is the managing member of Bergmanis Law Firm, L.L.C. Mr. Bergmanis has been representing people at the Lake of the Ozarks for 40 years in both state and federal court in Missouri, and in other states in a wide variety of cases, including personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, criminal defense, social security disability, workers' compensation, commercial litigation, and various other areas of civil litigation.
Mr. Bergmanis was born and raised in Kirkwood, in the St. Louis, Missouri area. He graduated with honors from Drury College in Springfield, Missouri, in 1982, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. He was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Delta Phi, and Kappa Alpha Order fraternities. After graduating from Drury College, Mr. Bergmanis attended the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law, and received his Juris Doctorate in 1985.
Mr. Bergmanis became licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Missouri and the United States federal court in 1985. Immediately thereafter, he began his continuous years of service to the Missouri Bar and citizens of the State of Missouri by serving on the Missouri Bar Young Lawyer's Section Council from 1986 to 1995, and was the Chair Person of the Young Lawyer's Section Council from 1993 to 1994. Mr. Bergmanis has served on the Missouri Bar Foresight Committee, the Missouri Bar Professionalism Committee, and the Missouri Bar Complaint Resolution Program. He has been a member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors since 1999, has served on the Board of Governors Executive Committee, and has been Chairman of the Missouri Bar Finance Committee from 2007-2013. He has been the Chair Person of the IOLTA Fund Task Force Committee, and served on the Special Committee relating to Tort Reform. He is the author of the Missouri Bar CLE Deskbook, "Boating While Intoxicated," and continues to serve on the Missouri Bar Legal Education Committee. Mr. Bergmanis has served as Municipal Judge for the City of Linn Creek for 22 years, with his service ending in 2016.
Mr. Bergmanis has served on the Advisory Board of ALTECCO, a Mission organization that serves the Amazon region in South America. He is a past board member of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce, the Lake of the Ozarks West Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Board of People's Bank, and is a former President of the Camden County Jaycees. He has also served in the past as a member of the Camdenton Rotary Club. Mr. Bergmanis has served over the past ten years in the capacity of coach for various Jefferson City hockey teams, including the Jefferson City High School Varsity Hockey Team 2008-2009 and 2010-2011.
Mr. Bergmanis makes his home at the Lake of the Ozarks with his wife, Alleta, and their two children, Cole and Lisa.
