Verified ClientHired Attorney 2015Robert E. Gordon is a good man. That sums up who he is as an attorney/lawyer and a friend. Over the years Robert and I have built a friendship that derived from my need of legal assistance in family court. It started with legal advisement for gaining custody of my daughter who I love with all my heart. From day one, I never felt like just another client. You know the type of client that has a file that just sits on the desk. He always made me feel that he took personal interest in my situation. Robert was also very easy to communicate with. Every question and concern that I had was always answered or resolved in a timely fashion. After a few months I could tell that Robert actually cared about my daughter and wanted what was best for her. Over the year and a half that it took to complete my legal case Robert helped out several of my family members and friends with small legal issues like traffic tickets and anything else he could handle under his broad scope of work. People trusted that he would do a good job because I was ALWAYS bragging about not only how good of a lawyer he was but also how cool of a person he is. Everyone that has worked with him has come back to testify the same. I could go on for days about Mr.Gordon and how awesome he is but I will conclude with by saying this. I went into my case expecting to pay child support and only see my daughter a few days per month. With the help of Mr.Gordon and with God leading the way I have sole legal guardianship of my daughter and I am able to spend an abundance of time with her. Robert went in and fought for things that I didn't even know I could have. I only wanted a bite to eat but Robert went in to get me the WHOLE PIE!!!!!

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2013Bob is an outstanding lawyer. He works hard, returns calls and responds to emails promptly. Bob was very knowledgeable, confident and reassuring when he was explaining how the legal process would work. He answered every question I had thoughtfully and explained it in a way I could understand. It was always a pleasure to talk to him. I always felt like when we talked on the phone that I had his full attention. I highly recommend Bob!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
