Hired Law firm 2019-2021I see there is a strong trend going here. I paid him all the money up front and then paid him more on top of it. Hired him to represent my son. At first he was pretty good...then communication via phone calls and emails went down to almost nothing. Keith does not answer his phone, texts or emails. I even spoke with him about his communication and lack thereof, he admitted to me that he knew it was horrible and promised that it would be better. No, it got worse. He contacted my son day before court...my son lives out of state and Keith was informed that we needed a zoom court date. Keith never responded. Then Keith went to the final court date and lied, telling the judge he had been trying multiple times to reach my son, which he did NOT...therefore my son lost custody. MY SON AND I WILL BE FILING A REPORT AGAINST HIM WITH THE ABA and Chief of Counsel. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON KEITH BLACK

Hired Law firm 2017-2021I had the same situation happened to me I paid him half of my money sent him every thing he needed. It’s going on 4 years and have heard everything from him it the last 2 years. I left voice mails text messages and emails and haven’t heard anything from him. I feel like I’ve been robbed. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Hired Law firm 2021I contacted Mr. Black on April 21st and explained my situation. The conversation went great, he told me that my case would be an easy one and that he would have no problem taking it on. He was paid in full on April 23rd and everything he requested was uploaded by April 25th. He confirmed with me that he had everything he needed, and then disappeared. I have tried to reach out to him over 20 times, through phone calls, messages, texts and emails. I have no status updates on my case, and I have not signed anything regarding a court date. He will not return my calls or messages. I am looking into making a report for theft because I paid him for a service and with his lack of work and response, he has stolen from me. I would not recommend this lawyer to my worst enemy! If it was possible I wouldn't have given him 1 star because he doesn't deserve it.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
