Attorney Information

Overview

I was born and raised in Lexington, Lafayette County, MO. I have worked at Aull, Sherman, Worthington, Giorza & Hamilton, LLC in some capacity since I was in high school as my father was also an attorney and partner in this firm. When I was young, I was intrigued by my father's profession as an attorney and his ability to help people obtain justice in the legal system. Thus sparked my desire to be an attorney. I completed my education at UMKC Law School in 2002 and chose to return to my hometown of Lexington to practice law. While I am active in the legal community, I am also active in the Lexington community in several different areas. I serve on two scholarship committee that provide fund to students to allow them to continue with their education. I am a member of numerous legal associations and I participate in the local Youth Court which allows high school students to learn about the legal system. I truly enjoy the intricacies and challenges that the law and each case provides. The legal profession has given me the opportunity to help people with a variety of problems and issues they may face and I strive to protect my client's rights in each and every case.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
