Incompetent unethical liar who feels the need to sell himself and his political views with every conversation. Known him many years, nothing has changed. Blows smoke, does absolutely nothing that he tries to sell you. Claims to be buddies judge, always brags how long he has been doing this and constant talk of blaming politics for problems and name dropping so many people he supports or dislikes because of it. Too often I had to interrupt him reminding him that none of his constant opinions and bragging has anything to do with my case whatsoever. Always late, when the court saw that my attorney was Jeff Taylor, everyone from the bailiff to the judge just rolled their eyes as that was expected from him. Never requested a single piece of evidence or deposition which he sold me on swearing it was so important so I would sign over a portion of the bond money to pay for the depositions, never did, never spoke to a single witness. Showed up for trial unprepared, I was forced to tell the court he had not met with me or done a single thing in order to be prepared for trial, even the prosecutor agreed and stated to the court that she found it his lack of preparation troubling. Judge agreed and had to continue the case, again. Too many times to count he scheduled times for us to meet and go over the case, always cancelling every time with excuses, still waited until the night before my trial to schedule a 7pm meeting at his office. Literally 14 hours before the trial at 9am the next day, to go over evidence that required days. We finally get started, and he hadissues with his printer and cant print required pictures and documents needed for trial.Has no idea about the details of the case where important evidence should have already been requested and gone over. after 2 years he still had not reviewed important information, such as layout of the home which was very relative to the case, the police reports or even the alleged victims report. Basically started from scratch less than 12 hours before the trial. During the trial it was no different. I constantly had to produce evidence and documents he could not find. Luckily I have a law enforcement background and was familiar with what would need to be present during the trial. I also had to re-send by text numerous important pictures of evidence to him in the middle of the trial so he could go into the judges chambers and print off for the court. It was like he was a puppet, and I constantly had to either provide documents he could not find or write down word for word questions for him to ask and even how to ask them while cross examining so that they were worded properly and would be allowed to be asked by the court as he struggled to be able to ask basic questions I wanted asked. This was the easiest case ever to win, it was a false police report filed by an angry ex girlfriend after I broke up with her, and I had endless evidence disproving every word of her false accusation. I offered TO mutually part ways since he had not done a single thing I asked of him in my defense and asked for a partial refund. He refused. I said I may file Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel complaint against him for the numerous failures. He blew up and started yelling at me, stating he doesn't care, said go ahead and file the complaint, saying "Do you know how much money my family has!!??" Said he will just become a paralegal and not have to deal with the stress of a lawyer anymore. My family witnessed it and were disgusted an attorney would act in that manner. The case should have never made it past a preliminary hearing, evidence proved charges were based on false reports but Jeff does not get paid as much if it gets dismissed at that stage, so he lied to me again. 1 day after my trial I sent a text asking if he was in St Louis or Jefferson county that day because I was needing to request a copy of the trial transcript, his answer was, that's none of your damn business".

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
