I was on trial and facing the worst ADA prosecutor under the hangman judge facing 15 years and 4 years consecutive. Brad Kessler saved my life by stepping in at the beginning of my trial, without any background of the case, and just in the last three days of trial he was able to almost completely turn in around and I only had to serve 2 years of my eight year sentence when the ADA asked the court to make me serve the 15 years I was facing. I have no doubt that if I had Brad from the beginning, the entire case would have been dismissed at the suppression hearing. He is a class act attorney, and well worth every penny. And he is one great artist, and that is coming from a fellow illustrator.

I hired Brad to represent me in 2005, and I paid him 7,000 and because of a mistake that his clerk Danielle Pelot admitted to in court, my bond was revoked and once that happened I wasn't able to call him and never saw him again until the day I went to court, in the mens bathroom after I had to pay another lawyer for the case. And while I was in county jail a CO said my money was gone because everyone knew that he was on drugs, according to him. So Brad is BAD.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
