Attorney Information
Overview
Prior to forming Edelman & Muehleisen, LLC, Tim spent 5 years with Edelman, deRoode, Muehleisen and Alton, LLC concentrating his practice in a variety of personal injury and workers compensation matters, along with minor criminal and traffic matters. Before that he spent 3 years with Smith Amundsen, a multi-practice law firm based in Chicago, Illinois. While there, he handled matters in a variety of areas including labor and employment disputes, construction litigation, contract disputes, commercial litigation, premises liability, products liability, toxic torts and general insurance defense. Prior to his time at Smith Amundsen, Tim was a partner at the law firm of Moser & Marsalek, PC in St. Louis. While there, he concentrated his practice in defending personal injury lawsuits that were filed against his clients across the country.
After 12 years spent mostly defending lawsuits, Tim decided that it was time to take that knowledge and skill set and begin practicing on the plaintiff side. During his career, Tim has taken cases to conclusion through trial of settlement on behalf of individuals, corporations, and small businesses. In addition to his trial work, Tim has also handled more than seventy-five mediations/arbitrations and has been very successful with disposing of matters prior to trial, obtaining favorable decisions on Motions for Summary Judgment and Motions to Dismiss in both State and Federal Court.
In 2011, Missouri Lawyers Weekly honored Tim as one of its 2011 Up & Coming Lawyers. The award honors attorneys under the age of 40. The recipient epitomizes excellence in the legal community and is identified as a leader in the community-at-large. In addition, Tim was also selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for 2011 and 2013, which recognizes attorneys under the age of 40 that have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
In his community, Timothy volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and is the founder and head coach of the Jr. Cougar Middle School football program for the Affton School District in St. Louis. He is also a board member of the Greek Literary Association for Kappa Sigma Fraternity (Beta-Gamma Chapter at the University of Missouri-Columbia). Timothy is licensed to practice in the states of Missouri and Illinois, as well as, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
