Attorney Information
Overview
I am a Montana native and attended West High School in Billings, Montana where I grew up. In 1993, I graduated with honors from the University of Montana with a political science degree. Following college, I joined VISTA (now known as Americorps) and assisted in developing and operating a literacy program in Montgomery, Alabama. I attended the University of Montana Law School from 1997 - 2000 and graduated with honors.
Prior to beginning my own family law practice in Helena in 2002, I clerked for District Court Judge Russell Fagg in Bilings and then Justice William Leaphart at the Montana Supreme Court. In 2003, I moved to Missoula to work at a local law firm, and I then opened my current family law practice in 2007. Since 2007, I have provided family law legal services to those in need in the Missoula and surrounding areas.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2017My divorce was volatile and difficult. Angela felt more like an adversary than a resource. From my experience, she presented as incredulous, often unresponsive, and she made a difficult situation much more emotionally draining. I'm sympathetic that people are often not at their most rational during these times. However, if you are a man leaving a difficult marriage, I would warn you against this professional. She is clearly knowledgeable and a capable attorney who was seemingly uninterested in being an advocate for me. To be fair, I would wager that an amicable divorce would not have caused the same friction for another client. Ultimately, I changed counsel so that I could get my interests addressed.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
