Overview

John Michael McHenry, age 70, died in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Born February 27, 1948, to John and Reathel (Hemmerle) McHenry, he graduated from Sidney High School in 1966, the University of Nebraska in 1970 and the Nebraska College of Law in 1973. John married Nadine (Fischer) on November 27, 1972. John was remarried to Victorie on August 12, 2017.

John lived in Sidney, Minden and Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1975, John established the law firm that would become McHenry, Haszard, Roth, Hupp, Burkholder & Blomenberg, PC, LLO.

John was an active member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, The Masonic Lodge, the Grand Lodge of Nebraska, the Board of the Masonic Home of Nebraska, and the Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association. John was an avid world traveler, golfer and fisherman. He lived a great life.

John is survived by his wife, Victorie, his first wife, Nadine, his children, Jack (Terri) and Claire (Daniel); his grandchildren, his sisters, Pat (Ron) Gervais, Cheryl (Ken) Hassler, and Barbara Ann (Bob) Evans; his in-laws, nieces, nephews, step-children and grandchildren, and friends too numerous to count. John is preceded in death by his father John, his mother Reathel, and his sister Judy Albrecht.

Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Thursday at Butherus, Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A St, Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 24, 2018, at St John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine St, Lincoln, with Fr. Lyle Johnson celebrating the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation and the Daughters of the Nile Foundation. The family thanks everyone for their help and support.
