I am a 100% disabled military veteran for PTSD and was treated terribly by Nancy Shannon. She represented my ex husband in our divorce case. She openly mocked my disability in writing to my own lawyer, and then denied my basic ADA rights. We were forced to go to the judge and file a motion for it, costing everyone more legal fees. She treated me with so much disrespect in court for no reason at all. She made our case so much harder than it should have been and in the end, she didn't win the case for my ex husband either as he was ruled to pay me over $32k. I would never recommend using her.

Worst customer service ever. I’m sure Cordell and Cordell love her making them money. She screwed me for around 10k She saw a father that would spend anything to get custody of his son but after spending that much I fired her and spend minimal with another law firm and done within 2 weeks. The second said she was just dragging it out to rack up bills. Cordell and Cordell and Nancy Shannon are the worst

Nancy is a very intelligent lawyer and a great litigator. She absorbs information quickly and brings her experience to bare in the courtroom. She has a strong courtroom presence and it is extremely evident the level of respect that opposing counsel and the judge has for her. I highly recommend Ms. Shannon as representation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
