I’ve been working with Anthony Barney for months on a case that was unwinnable due to a demented judge with a vendetta against me because my prior lawyer showed her private emails which contained less than flattering words for her due to that lawyer telling me the judge was new and inexperienced, unfair and would be angry if she knew she made a mistake. As you can imagine, this judge tried everything to make me lose as much of my trust as possible to litigation and ignoring poor management of the funds. Mr Barney was able to us truth and what’s right to gain the upper hand which the judge could not interfere with any longer and he won a great settlement . A week later when he went on vacation the opposing attorney tried to reactivate the case and his billing and Mr Holyoak took over in Mr Barney’s absence. Knowing the judge would bow down to him and help harm me, this animal attorney went out of his way to try to get out of a settlement by predicting that in the future I might. He then wrote something he wanted me to sign which in fact would have been a crime for me to have signed my name too. Once he learned that he backed off but the damage was done, more fees, and for nothing other than his pride which made him try to find a new way to beat a dead horse. Mr. Holyoak saved the day by finding case law which clarified that the other lawyer not only was reactivating a settled case so he can get more money from his deceit, but Mr Holyoak found the evidence in case law which proved that I’d not only done nothing wrong but that the other lawyer now was guilty of trying to course me to sign a document that was not necessary and further, incriminated him of trying to make me engage in a crime. Mr Barney rocked a case that he had everything against him despite I was 1000% the victim and in the right, but the judge is a creep with very deep biases and inability to be fair, and he overcame it and did amazing and then Mr. Holyoak came in and finished it off and was amazing also. I have deep respect for him and Mr Barney, their deep faith in God and the pursuit of justice and the whole office made it easier to deal with narcissistic opposing counsel and a nasty bully judge with a vendetta and I’m appreciative and deeply grateful to him for not only filling in but doing an amazing job in Mr Barney’s absence Doug Melissa Tiffany Kevin are also very decent and hard working people whose faith is refreshing as was Mr Barney’s faith in my truth and belief in what is right, and so fought against a very hostile and in my opinion mentally disturbed narcissistic opposing counsel and judge ..

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
