Hired Law firm 2009-2021I have known Attorney Nelson Gonzalez for over 10 years now. I sought him for council and I have referred him numerous times. My referees have come back to me grateful for my referral and please with their outcomes. I referred him for Immigration Cases, Criminal Cases and motor vehicles cases. I retained him recently in several traffic violations and the outcome exceeded my expectations in both the results and in the payment amount of fines. It was well worth his fee for my case. He uses his wealth of knowledge and his experience in the court room to give his clients the best possible outcome. He has always returned my calls and made sure all court matters were handled timely. I will continue to refer him to my friends and family.

Hired Law firm 2009-2018I have been "working" with Nelson and his wife Anicia for almost nine years....NINE years! Over two years ago we settled on a workers compensation amount and was waiting for it to come and never did. I also am waiting for a court date for the personal injury claim. Then I was hospitalized for 10 months & have been out on my own for a year next month and no callback or response...maybe if I was a criminal Nelson would return my calls and assist me bc I have seen him more than once at morris county courthouse representing criminals. However, every time in the past I threatened to find another lawyer that's when I would see results. Unfortunately I can not continue waiting for him to do his job....my attorney will have to contact this "attorney"

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
