    Hired Law firm 2024
Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group, specifically the attorney they assigned, Chris, was irresponsibly negligent with my case. My attorney Chris would barely give me the time of day, only talking to me while waiting on line for a dinner reservation or while panting on the treadmill at the gym. We worked together for weeks and weeks, only then, DURING THE FIRST BREAKOUT SESSION WITH THE JUDGE, Chris tells me my goal of seeking sole custody is unreasonable and he would not pursue it. He had already racked thousand of dollars of work pursuing this goal, only to tell me that he would try to get the judge to make my ex allow my son to enter therapy, which she had already agreed to do! Then, I wanted to get visibility to child protective services records opened against my ex, and the judge was so close to giving it to us, and Chris lost the argument to a lawyer who passed the bar about ten minutes before the case, because she had a clearer understanding of the difference between "reasonable" and "necessary." You should not use this firm. They do not care about you, they will not take you seriously, and they will laugh all the way to the bank.

Choosing this firm was the best move I could’ve made. My attorney was thoughtful, strategic, and fierce when it came to getting a positive outcome for me and my child. If you’re looking for someone who’s both smart and compassionate, they’re it.

This firm exceeded my expectations in every way. They were responsive, respectful, and highly organized. I appreciated the consistent communication before each hearing, and I felt completely prepared. Their professionalism and commitment to client service really stood out.

Hired Attorney Carmela L. Novi 2025-2026
    Recommends this Attorney
Divorce—especially from a toxic person—is one of the hardest processes to go through, and I’m grateful I had an attorney who was sharp, persistent, and deeply experienced in my corner. Carmela is not a hand-holder—and that was ultimately a strength for me. She focused on strategy, outcomes, and protecting my interests, even when the process was emotionally exhausting. At times, the office dropped the ball on some administrative details, but she took responsibility when that happened. What consistently stood out was her commitment to regular, structured communication. She set up a standing weekly call and made a genuine effort to work through my entire list each time, which helped me stay grounded and prepared in an otherwise overwhelming situation. Most importantly, she fought for me. I never doubted that she took my case seriously or that she was advocating forcefully on my behalf. Beyond her legal skill and honed instincts, I believe she genuinely cared about me as a client and as a person, and that made a meaningful difference. If you’re looking for a divorce attorney who is strategic, confident, and willing to go the distance—rather than someone who sugarcoats the process—I would strongly recommend her.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
