Overview
Jared is admitted to practice in New Jersey (1987) and Minnesota (1986) and has practice in New Jersey since 1989.
Jared is primarily a business lawyer, representing and advising clients in business transactions and litigation. Business transactions include the formation of new businesses, the drafting and development of partnership, operating and shareholder agreements (including buy-sell agreements), the implementation of business succession plans, the buying and selling of businesses and business interests and the acquisition, sale, leasing and financing of both commercial and residential real estate. Jared has extensive litigation experience in these areas of law in courts throughout northern New Jersey. Jared’s litigation experience includes contract disputes, shareholder or partner buyouts and litigation and probate litigation related to will contests and disputes.
Jared has a unique interest in the representation of builders and contractors and their special needs related to real estate development, business and consumer contracts and consumer fraud compliance. He has extensive experience representing individual homeowners who have been harmed by the actions of unscrupulous builders and remodelers and pursuing their (consumer fraud and related) claims against home improvement contractors. He is a frequent lecturer and writer on issues the New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act and its risks and dangers to businesses, as well as its protections to consumers.
Jared also has extensive experience in representing community associations (condominium and cooperative apartment buildings and home owner associations), providing general advice and implementing strategies and actions for effective governance and operations of such entities.
As a former municipal prosecutor, Jared has a broad understanding of the municipal court process and law, helping clients achieve successful resolution of an often stressful circumstance.
Jared is actively involved in his Pascack Valley community, as a recreation athletics coach and leader and as a member of various local charitable organizations. In addition to having coached his children and dozens of others in soccer, basketball and softball in River Vale and Hillsdale, NJ, he is the former President of the River Vale Youth Soccer Association and former Athletic Director of the Township of River Vale. He was a long time member and a term President of the Westwood Rotary Club and a long time Trustee of the Dr. David Goldberg Child Care Center a Non Profit child care center formerly of Westwood, NJ. Jared has served as Prosecutor of the Township of River Vale and as a Member of its Planning Board.
Jared is a soccer enthusiast having travelled to Israel with a soccer team competing in the international Maccabiah games of 2009. His other interests include fitness training, food, riding his motorcycle and music.
