Fawn B. Dyer is highly experienced in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child support, child custody, alimony, equitable distribution, complex asset valuation, domestic violence, mediation, arbitration, termination of parental rights and all other family law matters.
Fawn is drawn to the practice of family law because it allows her to directly help people navigate through one of the most stressful times of their lives. Fawn has built a well-regarded reputation for handling complex, highly contested divorce and family matters, from the initial filing through case conclusion, as well as helping clients negotiate their matters through low conflict methods such as mediation. Fawn provides each of her clients with creative and compassionate legal representation that focuses on strategic solutions to address her clients’ unique needs and goals.
Fawn is also well-versed in real estate transactions, landlord-tenant matters, foreclosure defense, estate litigation, and consumer bankruptcies through the many clients that she has helped over the years.
She also served as an appointed pool attorney law guardian representing children in New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (formerly DYFS) child abuse and neglect cases. Fawn was appointed as law guardian for minor children-heirs in a complex foreclosure matter in Essex County. Among her notable court cases, Fawn successfully argued an appellate division case regarding college expense contribution: Novak v. Novak, No. A-2340-11t2, unpublished, NJ Appellate Division, Argued October 11, 2012, Decided March 22, 2013.
Fawn was judicial law clerk for Hon. Shirley A. Tolentino, J.S.C. (deceased) in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson County, where she assisted her judge in all aspects of civil division court cases. Prior to being appointed as a judicial law clerk, Fawn interned for Hon. Shirley A. Tolentino, J.S.C. (deceased) and Hon. Torkwase Y. Sekou, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, Family Part. During law school at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, Fawn represented clients in the Suffolk County Family Court in Central Islip, New York, as part of her law school’s family law clinic.
Prior to entering the law profession, Fawn worked for nearly 14 years in insurance, retirement, and financial services at two Fortune 500 companies with increasing responsibility during her tenure, mostly notably as Director of Institutional Services for a platform of unregistered commingled funds with over two billion in assets under management. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Rutgers Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College in Maine.
Fawn is a member of the American Bar Association, Family Law Section, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. She is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court – District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Supreme Court.
