Attorney Information
Overview
Kristen Blucher is an Associate Attorney with Ziegler Law Group LLC since July 2023. Kristen is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey. She is a seasoned practitioner in the area of family law, with experience handling a wide range of matters through litigation and collaborative processes.
Practice Areas
Kristen has extensive experience representing clients in complex and emotionally charged family law matters, including:
- Divorce, including high-conflict divorce matters;
- Child custody and parenting time disputes;
- Prenuptial agreements;
- High net-worth marital estates;
- Pre- and post-judgment motion practice;
- Grandparent custody;
- Adoption;
- Domestic violence matters;
- Contested Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) matters; and
- Appeals in both the Appellate Division and Supreme Court of New Jersey.
Appellate and Complex Litigation Experience
In her appellate practice, Kristen has represented clients in both family and criminal matters on issues including cohabitation, child custody, criminal convictions, and domestic violence. She recently co-authored a brief on behalf of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey as amicus curiae in M.A. v. J.H.M., 260 N.J. 522 (2025), in which the Supreme Court of New Jersey ruled that a court may not draw an adverse inference against a defendant in a civil domestic violence trial who invokes the Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination.
Judicial Clerkship Experience
Kristen served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John P. McDonald, J.S.C., Family Part, Somerset County, during the 2020–2021 term. In this role, she assisted the court by researching legal issues, preparing motion orders, and managing divorce, non-dissolution, and domestic violence trials and other proceedings. This experience provided Kristen with valuable insight into judicial decision-making and substantive family law.
Education and Early Legal Experience
Kristen received her Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, she gained significant experience as a student attorney serving low-income clients in the greater Boston area through positions in legal clinics at Boston University and Harvard Law School. Kristen also served as staff editor and articles editor on the American Journal of Law & Medicine.
Kristen earned her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in English from Rutgers University in 2015.
Client-Centered Approach
Kristen understands that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to family law. Her background in legal aid and client-centered lawyering makes her particularly adept at guiding clients through emotionally taxing times. She approaches every matter with empathy, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to achieving her clients’ objectives.
Outside the Office
When not practicing law, Kristen is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs.
