Overview
Jennifer L. McInerney brings 26 years of experience to the firm with a focus on probate litigation and estate planning. She has successfully litigated will contests, undue influence and lack of capacity cases, guardianships, conservatorships, fiduciary disputes and accountings and creditor claims. She has extensive trial experience examining and cross-examining expert witnesses, including medical and financial professionals. She has fought to protect incapacitated persons and has effectively pursued the removal of executors, trustees, administrators and guardians who have breached their fiduciary duties. Additionally, Ms. McInerney provides estate planning services such as the drafting and preparation of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Advance Directives for Healthcare. Ms. McInerney started her career litigating matrimonial cases and has a background in complex divorce and custody matters, adoption, domestic violence and the negotiation of prenuptial, support and divorce agreements. With a busy Appellate Court practice, she successfully argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court in Morgan v. Morgan, a child custody and relocation case.
Ms. McInerney has been named to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list for 2025 and 2026 in the area of Trust and Estate Litigation and was selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2006-2013. Outside the office, Ms. McInerney dedicates her time to the West Essex James Caldwell Ice Hockey Club, a New Jersey non-profit organization, where she serves on the Board of Directors.
Ms. McInerney completed a Family Law clerkship with the Honorable Susan Scott, Superior Court Judge for the Family Division, Morris County, New Jersey in 1999. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University and her Juris Doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
