Attorney Information

Overview

Patricia K. Haddad is a partner at Levine Haddad & Gregory, LLC working to help lead the Trusts and Estates group. Patricia, a graduate of Saint Mary's College of Notre Dame (a portion of her time in college was spent studying abroad in Rome, Italy), her J.D., cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Patricia leverages her extensive experience in analyzing, structuring and administering sophisticated estate plans to assist individuals and families in achieving their wealth planning goals. In an intricate and ever-changing complex area of the law, clients not only appreciate her vast knowledge, but also her unique ability to communicate clearly and plainly, avoiding overwhelming jargon. She makes the estate planning and administration processes straightforward and works tirelessly to make sure that her clients understand the implications of the plans they set in place.

Patricia’s practice encompasses all aspects of trusts and estates law. She handles income, estate, inheritance, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues, and helps clients maximize the benefits of gifting. As a valued advisor and empathetic counselor, Patricia also assists estate and trust beneficiaries and fiduciaries to enforce their rights and adhere to their obligations in the event of a dispute. Patricia understands and often preempts the risks inherent in the role of executor or trustee.

In addition to providing estate planning services, Patricia assists with the administration of estates following the death of a loved one. During this challenging time, she streamlines the process and guides her clients through the difficult and truing responsibilities of probating wills, collecting assets, paying final debts and expenses, filing appropriate tax returns, making distributions and generally completing the administrative tasks required to protect the interests of the fiduciaries and/or beneficiaries of an estate. Patricia has been lecturing specifically on the topic of Estate Administration through the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Education to her peers as well as newly admitted attorneys. She has lectured extensively and presents seminars and educational programs for other business and professional organizations.

Admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Tax Court, Patricia is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Women in the Profession Section.

When not at work, Patricia can be found spending time with her two teenage sons, the loves of her life.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
