Attorney Information
Overview
Attorney Andrew Wolfenson, the founder and senior partner of the firm, has maintained his practice in Union Township for over 30 years. He practices in courts throughout North and Central New Jersey, and his reputation for reaching pragmatic solutions to complex situations, as well as his acumen in the varied fields of Estates, Real Estate, Family Law, and Litigation has led to his appointment by the court, on numerous occasions, to serve as the Administrator of contested estates, as well as mediator or fiscal agent in contested litigations.
Mr. Wolfenson’s zealous advocacy on his clients’ behalf, and his continuing concern for the rights of non-custodial parents, resulted in a New Jersey appeals court establishing a new standard by which a custodial parent is permitted to relocate within the state in the case of A.J. v. R.J., 461 N.J. Super. 173 (App. Div. 2019). Now, the “best interests” of the children must be considered by the court before allowing a custodial parent to relocate within the state, as opposed to the prior, far more permissive, standard.
Awarded the prestigious honor of being named to “Lawyers of Distinction,” he has also been recognized as one of New Jersey’s “Top Attorneys for Families” by New Jersey Family Monthly, a distinction earned through client votes for seven consecutive years. Andrew was selected as a Super Lawyer for 2025 and 2026. Being selected as a Super Lawyer is a prestigious honor that signifies recognition of an attorney’s exceptional professional achievements and peer recognition. It reflects a high degree of respect within the legal community, as the selection process involves rigorous evaluation based on peer nominations, independent research, and professional accomplishments. This distinction highlights not only legal expertise but also ethical practice and dedication to clients. For clients and colleagues, a Super Lawyer designation serves as a mark of credibility and excellence in the legal field.
In his spare time, Attorney Wolfenson is an avid baseball fan and serves as Commissioner of a fantasy baseball league. He is also an accomplished author, having published several novels, including two legal thrillers. His first work, In His Own Defense, introduces the main character, Eric Goldberg, an attorney based in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and explores the limitations of the attorney-client privilege while taking readers from Elizabeth to São Paulo, Brazil. In the sequel, In His Ex-Wife’s Defense, Goldberg represents his ex-wife in a case centered on New Jersey’s texting and driving laws, while also examining politics and the relationship between politicians and the media. He is also nearing the fulfillment of his lifelong goal of attending a game in every Major League Baseball city.
The third book, Deadly Fantasy: A Baseball Story, focuses on one man’s obsession with winning his fantasy baseball league to the detriment of other aspects of his life. It also provides readers with a critical comparison of the current statistics-based approach to evaluating baseball players versus the more traditional, “human” approach to player selection.
The founder of the New Jersey Chapter of the Franklin & Marshall College Alumni Association, he served as its chair for five years. He previously served as Chairman of the Legal and By-Laws Committee, as well as a member of the Executive Committee, for Adath Shalom Synagogue in Parsippany, and before that served for several years as Vice President and legal counsel for the Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce.
Attorney Wolfenson, the founder and senior partner of the firm, practices in courts throughout North and Central New Jersey. A member of the New Jersey Bar Association, he has lectured for the Graduate Realtor Institute of the New Jersey Association of Realtors, as well as for first-time homebuyers with the Housing Partnership Ownership Center in Dover, New Jersey.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
