Overview
I’m a life-long New Mexican in love with our beautiful state! I went to Monte Vista Elementary, Jefferson Middle School, and graduated from Highland High School in 1986 (go Hornets!). I earned a B.A. in Spanish, cum laude, from the University of New Mexico in 1992. During college, I studied for a summer in Morelia, Mexico, and for a year at the Universidad De Granada in Spain.
When I was a child, my father taught me the beauty of Navajo Weaving. After getting my B.A., I worked with my father for several years at Una Gallery (our family business), located in Scottsdale, Arizona. We specialized in historic Navajo rugs and Pueblo textiles, as well as folk art. During this time, I was featured on the cover of Today’s Arizona Business Woman magazine as one of eight young women who were “rising stars” in Arizona business.
By 2010, I realized that law was my true calling, and I received my J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2012. While in law school, I was the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Significant Contribution to the Law School Community and was fortunate to be awarded the Judge Oliver Seth Scholarship in the areas of legal ethics and mediation. While in law school, I was elected to serve as the student representative on the board of directors of the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association and as Vice President of Community Relations for the Women’s Law Caucus. I was a volunteer mediator in the Bernalillo Metropolitan Court and for years I was a mentor for the Program for the Empowerment of Girls; a program designed by the Children’s Court to help teenage girls who have been in the juvenile justice system.
After law school, I had the pleasure of clerking for the Honorable Judge M. Monica Zamora at the New Mexico Court of Appeals. I then practiced as a civil defense lawyer, handling a broad range of matters including commercial litigation, personal injury and product liability. However, I found my true joy and passion in representing individuals at Parnall Law.
