Elizabeth "Bonnie" Weikel - Albany, NY

Elizabeth “Bonnie” Weikel is an associate attorney at Phelan, Phelan & Danek, LLP. Bonnie focuses predominantly on the defense of medical malpractice and construction litigation matters and some appellate practice.

Prior to law school, Bonnie worked as a litigation paralegal for a local plaintiff’s personal injury and medical malpractice firm. Bonnie subsequently attended Quinnipiac University School of Law where she graduated, summa cum laude, in 2019. Bonnie excelled in law school, where she interned in the Tax Law Clinic, served as an associate editor for the Quinnipiac University School of Law Probate Law Journal, and as the External Competition Director for the Society for Dispute Resolution. Bonnie’s student Note, Disabling the Funds of the Disabled: How the “Sole Benefit” Rule Frustrates the Administration and Purpose of Supplemental Needs Trust, was published in 2018. Bonnie also won numerous accolades and awards for her academic and clinical achievements while a law student.

Following Bonnie’s admission to practice in 2020, Bonnie worked as a litigation associate at another firm defending complex commercial and construction claims.

Bonnie is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Bonnie is an incoming officer on the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, a Member of the New York State Bar Association, and was recently named an Upstate New York 2023 Rising Stars Honoree by Super Lawyers.

In her free time, Bonnie enjoys hanging out with her dog, Pixie, reading and yoga.
