very professional and understanding of his clients situation . he returned all emails and phone calls in a timely manner. We had several meetings and some extra paper work even so he did not charge any extra. I would use him for any advice i might need in any future

Losing my job unexpectedly due to a medical condition some years ago left my wife and I with extreme credit card debt. My wife was working and could only afford the minimum payment due and paid the cards for years but as you know, paying the minimum mostly pays just the interest. Once she lost her job, there were no funds in our budget to pay anything but living expenses. Deciding to file for bankruptcy was a very difficult choice but was the only solution. We had many unanswered questions and was unsure what chapter we qualified for since we owned our home, and we were unsure if my wife needed to file as well or just me since it was my debt. Luckily, we found The Brooke Law Firm and we scheduled a free bankruptcy consultation with John Brooke and so glad we did. At the consultation, John determined I qualified for Chapter 7 and there was no need for my wife to be included in the bankruptcy. John Brooke provided quality service at a reasonable price and was extremely easy to work with. He was very knowledgeable and answered every question we had. He handled our case professionally and courteously and I would most certainly refer my friends and family to him in the event they require bankruptcy assistance or any other attorney services. John Brooke performed above and beyond our expectations and we highly recommend his services. Brian M

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
