Attorney Information
Overview
Edward McIntyre is a founding partner of McIntyre Donohue Accardi Salmonson & Riordan, where he has practiced Workers’ Compensation law for over 26 years. With a background in employment law dating back to 1994, Ed has dedicated his legal career to helping injured workers and individuals facing disability-related challenges. His approach is rooted in compassion and advocacy for those suddenly facing financial and medical uncertainty.
Ed began his legal career after a distinguished tenure in law enforcement. He served as a New York City Police Officer from 1985 to 1989 and then joined the Suffolk County Police Department, where he worked until retiring as a Patrol Sergeant in 2004. His assignments included precinct patrol, the Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit, Highway Patrol Bureau, Community Response Unit, and a position as legal counsel to the Suffolk County Police Commissioner. He also served for 10 years as a PBA union delegate.
Ed earned his B.A. from John Jay College and his J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law while working full-time as a police officer. His firsthand experience with the challenges faced by law enforcement and union workers informs his legal practice and continues to guide his work with public and private sector unions.
A long-time member of the Suffolk County PBA, Ed is also affiliated with the Superior Officers Association, the Suffolk County Police Conference, the Suffolk County Police Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association, and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Bar Association. He regularly speaks to police organizations and unions on Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Municipal Pension topics.
Outside the office, Ed enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Janice, their three grown children, and two grandchildren—especially at the beach. He takes pride in treating every client with the same care and respect he would expect for his own family.
