Consulted Attorney 2021Paid Philip Artz from Artz & Mcdonough law firm to review a case regarding Malpractice. When I sat down and spoke with Mr. Artz he was more concerned with assets that Doesn’t belong to him rather than the Merits of the case as I provided the necessary Documentation and accounting. I went with a different local attorney who was able to secure a Great settlement on my behalf. Do yourself a Favor and do not consult or pursue Legal work with Artz & Mcdonough.

Hired Attorney 2021I hired Phil to represent me regarding a disability retirement application within the state system. I delivered the required paperwork in February and was unable to get in contact with him from that point until October, after my union president spoke with him regarding the matter. Phil then finally returned my call to inform me that nothing had been on my case as he had not opened my file since I met with him initially in January. This has resulted in essentially losing eight months of my life, as the disability retirement process can take multiple years to be processed. I have no faith in Phils ability to represent me in this process and will look for compotent counsel elsewhere. Do not hire Phil Artz unless you’re willing to wait years for resolution and virtually have zero communication regarding your case. Do not hire this man.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
