Attorney Information
Overview
I have been practicing law continuously for 48 years, specializing in personal injury law. This area of the law deals with obtaining full compensation for people who have been involved in accidents. These accidents involve car accidents, slip and fall accidents, building, sidewalk or store accidents, or any other type of accident involving an injury. During my long period of practice I have tried and settled thousands of cases, involving hundreds of millions of dollars. in all of the various types of cases in which people can be injured . I have successfully handled very serious cases, including brain damage, birth injuries and death cases, as well as cases with less serious injuries. Regardless of the type of case, or severity of injury, it is worth giving us a call for our opinion regarding the merits of pursuing a case.
I take particular pride in the fact that our office is frequently consulted by other lawyers, who do not handle this type of work, who refer their clients to us for accident cases. I have received recognition within the profession, as I served as President of the Bronx County Bar Association, and for many years served in the House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association. My office is special in that we maintain close communication with our clients. We welcome client questions and input, and we do our best to keep our clients up to date on their cases. I have known many of our clients for decades and they consider me a friend and their family attorney. In many instances I have represented several generations of the same family. In specializing in this area of the law throughout my practice I have become a recognized and respected expert in this field. Accident cases. I am proud that my son, Michael Rubin decided to also become an attorney and he has been with my office now for 12 years. During law school he showed his potential as a trial lawyer, as helped to lead his school's Trial Advocacy Team, and won his school's prize as Best Trial Advocate. These skills have enabled him to become a very successful Trial Lawyer, obtaining numerous excellent jury verdicts on behalf of our clients.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
