Hired Law firm 2014-2016Finding Mrs. Clark was a God-send after having had an extremely terrible experience with another law firm, where I was charged over $6000 for only 6 months of work and the attorney never appeared in court with me. From day one, Mrs. Clark, was tenacious, passionate, assertive and bluntly honest with me about how the my custody case was likely to play out, given her decades of experience in Brooklyn Family Court. She also did not charge me an absurd amount of money. Mrs. Clark does not mince her words, yet although I was extremely anxious about how the trial would result for myself and my child, she dealt with me with a firm sense of compassion, that still to this day, I am ever grateful for. In the end I did not get exactly what I wanted and Mrs. Clark knew that we would probably have to return to court to keep fighting on behalf of my child (which she was exactly right about and came to fruition nearly 4 years later), but it was not for lack of Mrs. Clark's knowledge or ability to properly defend me. A word of advice for anyone preparing to go into NY Family Court: to not assume ANYTHING! Do not listen to people who haven't been to family court in the past five years. Both parents are treated as equals, no matter what. So it is in your best interest to consult an attorney before you step into the court room. I am glad I found Mrs. Clark and although she can not represent me for the new case custody case (because my child and I have moved), I still contacted her first! Brooklyn residents are very lucky to have Julie Clark Esq to call on.

Hired Law firm 2012Attorney Clark was my lawyer and did an outstanding job handling the legal work. I would highly recommend her to others. I was quite satisfied.

Hired Law firm 2018-2019The Attorney Julie Clark was very brash and cold. Rushed and made client and family feel confused and unrepresented. Attorney Julie Clark had trouble remembering clients issues, charges, and anything personal about her client. She discussed and bad talked her own client with the prosecution and judge. She did not try to fight and investigate clients innocence and automatically accused him of committing crime when he claimed his innocence. Had a client due to her unwillingness to competently represent her client plead to a long time in prison for an accusation of a petty crime. I would not recommend this attorney.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
