Attorney Information
Overview
NICOLE A. DONNELLY.was born and raised in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Growing up with a Colombian mother, and an Irish American father, she was afforded the best of both cultures. Her first language was Spanish, and she learned English at school. Upon her graduation from St. Edmund Preparatory, she attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice. During that time, she was given the opportunity to intern at the Brooklyn ADA's Office which solidified her desire to become an Attorney. She furthered her education and attended Touro College, Jacob D. Fuschberg Law Center, where she graduated with high honors. During her time there she was an active member of the Latin American Law Students Association, and Phi Alpha Delta. Ms. Donnelly participated in the Disaster Relief Clinic to help Suffolk County residents receive FEMA Aid after Hurricane Sandy and participated in the Bankruptcy Clinic to help some of the same people affected by the storm start fresh. Her participation in those clinics gave her the opportunity to assist many Hispanic families. She was able to bridge the gap between clinic attorneys and clients who spoke Spanish. Ms. Donnelly also clerked with a Criminal Court Judge in Suffolk County Supreme Court to aid juvenile delinquents in rehabilitating their lives. Upon graduation she was offered a position at a Criminal Defense firm where she worked on white collar and RICO cases, it was at this point that she realized how much she enjoyed client interaction. Ms. Donnelly joined the Connors and Sullivan Team in June of 2020, a very uncertain time in New York with the hopes of becoming part of a team that could add some certainty to some people's very uncertain situations. Ms. Donnelly provides advice to clients regarding Estate Planning, Trust Preparation, and Medicaid, so that in a world of what ifs they have one less thing to worry about.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
