This man saved me from doing the minimum 12 years in prison for defending my family against some hoodrats. This man is a beast, don't say too much but always have a plan.

He was paid $2500 to defend against a DWI that there was no foundation for (super winnable case, any chimp with half a brain could’ve represented himself and won). Didn’t show up the first date, court was forced to postpone. The second date, did show up but didn’t really have anything prepared, so it was postponed again. Ended up taking the case to trial on his professional advice. Then at trial, after convening in private with the judge, I was given an ultimatum to either take a lesser charge or continue to fight and inevitably lose the case. So I was basically convinced/forced to plead guilty to something I didn’t do. So not only do I have to eat the lawyer expense, there is also a hospital fee, court surcharge and 3 months of suspended license. Throughout the case, this “lawyer” was very non-responsive to my reach outs and set up several pre-trial meetings that he didn’t follow through with. Worst legal representation one could ask for. I have lost most respect for the law after this experience thanks to Michael D’Amico and the state troopers that harassed me and my dad on the side of the road.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
