Customer Reviews for Winston D. Tucker

Hired Law firm 2020-2022“LEGAL” Cowboy A neighbor referred us to Winston Tucker when we told her we were looking for an immigration lawyer to help us file for a green card for our parents. She used him in the past and he did good work. So, we called and scheduled a consultation with Tucker. We should have seen the “red flag” when we got to the little house in Jamaica, Queens, NY. The guy met us in the living room, then took us to the dining room which was his “office”. A large dining table was his desk and there were large piles of paper scattered all over it and around the room, even on the floor. Tucker told us he could help us and that if he paid in full – his fee, applications fees and visa fee – he would give us a discount. My sister was skeptical but I trusted the referral and convinced her we should go with him. We handed Tucker our hard-earned money that we saved to bring our parents to the USA. Tucker gave us a receipt that he probably bought at the 99c store, his name nor address wasn’t on it (another red flag). He gave us a list of documents he needed and we dropped them off to him within a few days – W2s, copy of our passports, copy of driver licenses etc. He said he would start the application within the next 2 days. We waited for 2 weeks and heard nothing. Waited another 2 weeks and still nothing. My sister and I took turn calling him and most times his voicemail was full and we couldn’t leave a message. When we did get the voicemail it said to send him a text. We texted him, asked him for an update and no response from Tucker. This went on for over 3 months, calling and texting, and Tucker never once got back to us. Finally, my sister used a friend’s phone and called him about 6 months after we paid him. He answered. We identified ourselves (had the phone on speaker) and asked what was going on as we have been trying to find out if he submitted the applications. He got loud, screaming at us that we weren’t his only clients and said he couldn’t help us. We were so shocked. My sister asked him please to send back our documents and return our money. Tucker informed us he didn’t do refunds. I couldn’t help it, I started to cry. Then I heard the click as he hanged up the phone on us. It has been over 2 years of texting, calling, pleading, and begging Winston Tucker to return the thousands of dollars he took from us and he still hasn’t done so. My sister called from another friend phone and told him we were going to report him to the Grievance Committee to investigate him and he told her that he has our documents with social security number, address and all our personal information. This “lawyer” was actually threatening us after stealing thousands of dollars from us! We sought advice from 2 lawyers on how to get back our documents and money and one said he has now seen 3 people who Winston Tucker also robbed. When he offered to help them file a complaint against him, they got scared and said no. We told him Tucker takes personal info and then threatens and manipulates people. Also, many of these individuals are illegal and do not want to get the law involved. Winston Tucker is nothing but a GHETTO rat who steals from people, including his fellow Jamaicans and other Caribbean immigrants. He comes to NY and rob people, then goes home to his big house in RICHMOND VIRGINIA! My sister and I are not afraid of him but our parents begged us to please let it go. Our mother cried, fearing he will send thugs to hurt us and/or our children, and that’s why we haven’t reported him as yet to the Grievance Committee. I wish I could upload a recorded call with him so everyone can hear how this “lawyer” spoke to us before hanging up the phone. That’s why this “legal” ghetto thug gets away with it for so long. But I know there is a God and one day WINSTON TUCKER will reap what he sows. I hope they will send him to prison and/or revoke his law license. I will never stop crying and praying until that day comes. So, Tucker, tick tock…tick tock…

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
